The Glock 17 was one of the first polymer-frame pistols. Introduced in 1982, this pistol has great endurance.
While it can't claim "first" in the polymer category, it has certainly been the most popular polymer frame pistol to date. If you look at most duty holders across the United States, you will more than likely find a Glock 17.
This 9mm powerhouse boasts 17 plus 1 capacity (nothing to do with the model name). This is a feature that other manufacturers have struggled to match until relatively recently.
It's a block... I mean bell. Jokes aside, ergonomics doesn't seem to be Mr. Gaston's thing. Of course, although that hasn't stopped millions of law enforcement officers in thousands of agencies across the states from slipping one of these into a duty holster daily.

Glock didn't include an accessory rail until its third generation in 1998. They called it the UGR, or Universal Glock Rail. These dimensions are proprietary and do not conform to MIL-STD-1913.
Glock seems to be so popular that it has formed the accessory aftermarket. No major manufacturer of lights and lasers makes models for the Glock or includes keys to fit the Glock rail.

You can order grip modules of various sizes online without any form of government interference and simply drop your serialized modular trigger group into any P320 frame. Shooting the P320 is much the same as any other 9mm service rifle. The size and grip of the P320 lends itself to control of the firearm, which translates to accuracy.
The height over bore is higher on the P320 than that of the Glock 17. This means there will be more muzzle flip when shooting the P320. If you were to shoot the Glock 17 and then the P320 back to back, you would notice the different perceived recoil of the P320.
When shooting over time between or in separate range sessions, the difference is not noticeable. As with any service rifle, practice will compensate for any slight noticeable difference in recoil.
As a much newer entry into the full size/duty rifle market, you'd expect the accessory game to be lacking. This couldn't be further from the truth.

Holster options for the Sig P320 will broadly mirror those offered for the Glock 17. Names like We The People, Safariland, Dara, Blackhawk!, Gould and Goodrich, and Bianchi all have choices for the SIG P320.
While it would be much simpler to remove the fire control module from the full size P320 and drop it into a compact frame and then drop in the shorter barrel to fit for concealment, several companies make concealment holsters for this full size pistol.

Although it may not be considered ideal, some people prefer to carry their full size guns as their concealed weapons just because they can.
Another entry in the military's XM17 Modular Handgun Contest and entry in our Best 9mm Handguns is the Smith & Wesson Military & Police 2.0. This is the second major revision to the M&P line over the regular Smith & Wesson M&P.
Some of the upgrades include an extended steel frame to help with the stiffness of the rails, and flash of the slide to help compensate for the extra weight on the frame.
Other upgrades include a nicer trigger (compared to the OG M&P), nicer factory grip stippling, dual controls, and tighter sights that translate to more accurate shots.

All of the mechanisms for manipulating the 2.0 are accessible from a combat grip, and are all easy enough to activate that it seems like second nature.

Personally speaking, this type of trigger shoe is hot garbage. If I could only change one thing on this handgun, it would be its stock trigger. It just feels unnatural when pulled. While it functions much the same as the Glock safe action trigger does, I find it less than ideal.
The added weight and low bore on the shaft means that the perceived recoil of the M&P 2.0 is soft and smooth. This allows for quick and accurate follow-up shots on target. Shooting the 2.0 is a breeze and fun for everyone.

Accessories for the Smith and Wesson M&P 2.0 are more in line with those of Glock compared to the SIG P320. The MIL-STD-1913 rail found on the Smith means you don't need special "keys" to fit your lights and lasers if you so choose, but the spread of bells means that almost everyone has something for them make.
You can get custom palm swells and backstraps from third-party companies and the usual selection of sights available for all service rifles.
Holsters for the 2.0 can be obtained from most major manufacturers. This includes all the usual suspects seen on service belts in the US.
